Next Hygge Gathering: Sunday, June 22nd — Hyggehiking Yonkers' Coastal Forests
Our 6th Hygge gathering of 2025 will be Sunday, June 22nd, from 10am-10pm.
We'll be trekking through the coastal gardens and trails of Yonkers, beginning near the tippy top of Manhattan and venturing steadily northwards until we arrive at Untermyer Gardens, where we'll enjoy golden hour overlooking the Hudson. From there, we'll coast into the evening with convivial conversation at a local beer garden.

About
If you haven't been to a Hygge event before, think of it as a casual gathering to make new friends, discuss fun projects you're eager to work on, dive into deep, thoughtful discussions, and meet people who can help make NYC feel like a smaller, closer-knit community. Bring your friends, family, coworkers, anyone you think would enjoy both meeting new people and coming across friendly and familiar faces.
"Hyggehiking" is my own special blend of Hygge gathering — a conversational stroll through the green spaces of our city.
Logistics
This is a 10+ hour hike spanning 15+ miles, and you are free to join us at *any* point in the day 🙌. All RSVP'd "yes" and "maybe" attendees will receive a link at 10am to my realtime location for the entire day, along with my phone number, so you can see exactly where we are on Google Maps.
📲 Please text me roughly what time you plan to join so I can let you know the ideal spot to meet us.
What to bring
• comfy walking shoes
• sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sleeves)
• cash
• friends 🥰
Itinerary
This is my Google Maps list of the specific parks & places we'll aim to traverse. We may not make it to every location on the list, but I encourage you to dig deeper into any of them whenever you please. All times are rough estimates.
10am-10:30am — Buunni Coffee (Northend), Northend Food Hall
✨ Our gathering spot is an Ethiopian coffee shop, one of three that we'll get to visit over the course of the hike! For anyone arriving hungry, it's right next to a food hall.
10:30am-12:30pm — Fort Tryon Park, Isham Park, Buunni Coffee (Inwood), Inwood Hill Park
✨ We'll hike through the winding hills and gardens of Fort Tryon and Inwood Hill parks, with breaks for coffee and coastal views.
12:30pm-3pm — Henry Hudson Park, Raoul Wallenberg Forest, Riverdale Park, Sheza Coffee House
✨ After crossing the Henry Hudson Bridge, we'll make our way through more parks and forests along the Bronx's western waterfront.
3pm-5pm — 3 Brothers Pizzeria, The Plant, JFK Marina and Park
✨ We'll stop for snacks before exploring an abandoned power plant that has become a haven for graffiti artists and drone pilots.
5pm-7pm — Untermyer Gardens
✨ These Persian gardens have been on my must-visit list for nearly a decade, so I'm finally making it happen! I'm looking forward to seeing their temples and Hudson River vistas.
7pm-10pm — Lenoir Preserve, The Taco Project, La Lanterna Restaurant Wine & Beer Garden
✨ Hopefully we'll see some butterflies and deer at the 40-acre Lenoir nature preserve. We'll wrap up our night with a variety of food options in Yonkers and then enjoy drinks and conversation at a cozy beer garden.
Below, I've shared the path we'll most likely take. You can follow my live location, or call me at any point if you have trouble finding us.
