About
If you haven't been to a Hygge event before, think of it as a casual gathering to make new friends, discuss fun projects you're eager to work on, dive into deep, thoughtful discussions, and meet people who can help make NYC feel like a smaller, closer-knit community. Bring your friends, family, coworkers, anyone you think would enjoy both meeting new people and coming across friendly and familiar faces.
"Hyggehiking" is my own special blend of Hygge gathering — a conversational stroll through the green spaces of our city.
This particular Hygge hike is celebrating the third annual Week of Visibility for Non-Monogamy. Anyone is welcome to join regardless of their preferred relational orientation or structure, but as part of this celebratory week, feel free to ask your host any and all questions about non-monogamy, polyamory, or other relationship archetypes. Learn more about non-monogamy and other planned events here: https://www.weekofvisibility.com/events

This is my Google Maps list of the specific parks & places we'll aim to traverse. We may not make it to every location on the list, but I encourage you to dig deeper into any of them whenever you please. All times are rough estimates.

✨ Our gathering spot is a cafe with fun croissants.
10:30am-11:30pm — Huntington Woods, Pelham Bay Park
✨ Next, we'll search for any large trees we can find throughout the 2,764 acres of NYC's largest park.
11:30pm-2pm — Tony's Place Cafe, Turtle Cove Golf Center
✨ After crossing the Pelham Bay Bridge (one of NYC's eleven drawbridges), we'll stop at a local golf center for lunch, batting cages, and a driving range.
2pm-4pm — Bartow Station, Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum
✨ We'll explore the abandoned ruins of a former City Island rail station, then wander the gardens and grounds of a restored 1830s mansion.
4pm-5:30pm — Thomas Pell Wildlife Sanctuary, Goose Creek Marsh
✨ We'll trek through a 375 acre wildlife preserve that serves as a popular bird watching destination.
5:30pm-7pm — Hunter Island, Two Tree Island, Orchard Beach
✨ We'll enjoy golden hour along the islands and shores of Pelham Bay Park.
7pm-10pm — City Island, Belden Point, Seafood City
✨ We'll try to catch sunset at Belden Point, which looks out over the Long Island Sound and into Queens. From there, we'll venture to a local food hall for dinner and conversation by the water.
